COMMUNITY-BASED GRANT MAKING INITIATIVE 2021

Community-Based Grant Making Initiative updates on the grant award process:

  • There will be no second-round community voting taking place between now and April 7.

  • All current applicants who have submitted requests for proposal applications will be required to complete the South LA Decides Incubator Program.

  • We received 3 applications for Early Childhood Education and 2 applications for Food Insecurity

  • We received 0 applications for employment and fair wages. Workforce development programs will be outreached and encouraged to submit applications between now and the launch South LA Decides Incubator Program.

  • The tentative launch date and details for the South LA Decides Incubator Program are pending. 

  • All current applicants will be funded after they go through and complete the South LA Decides Incubator Program.

  • Awarded amounts have not been announced yet and the allocation process is still being determined.

2021 SOUTH LA Decides – COMMUNITY-BASED GRANT MAKING INITIATIVE 

 

SOUTH LA Decides is a Community-Based Grant Making initiative designed to ensure that residents in South LA and Compton participate in the decision-making process to distribute funding to organizations focused on increasing the health and well-being of children ages zero to five in their communities.

The Regional Task Force role is to elevate local issues affecting all of Region 2 by developing recommendations to increase systems-change impact and stewarding community-based grant making.

The Regional Task Force role is to elevate local issues affecting all of Best Start Region 2 by developing recommendations to increase systems-change impact and stewarding community-based grant making. The local members were elected by residents of South LA who attend Best Start Local Council meetings in West Athens, Compton/E. Compton, Broadway Manchester and Watts/Willowbrook.
